Electrolux Laundry Systems have approximately 1500 employees located at four manufacturing entities in Sweden, France, Denmark and Thailand and more than 20 national sales companies around the world. A network of more than 100 importers also serves the global customer base. The headquarters is located in Ljungby, Sweden. Electrolux Laundry Systems is part of the Electrolux Group - with more than 80,000 employees.

The solution

The web based configurator implemented at Electrolux Laundry Systems safely guides the sales support organisation, sales companies and importers through the selection and specification of customized industrial laundry solutions. The configurator only suggests product combinations that are valid for the various markets, segments and customers - as well as technically possible to manufacture. Moreover, the solution easily guides the users in real-time to variants that are on stock, immediately ready for dispatch. For new requested product variants, the configurator automatically handles the workflow processes of creating a new product variant informing all relevant stakeholders about the request, status and further actions.

Several product domain experts at different geographical locations are working as one team managing the rules and restrictions of more than 50 product families which are easily arranged and tested through clear structures and tables simplifying the administrative work greatly. All rules are automatically tested before deployment to the operations server, and thereby ensuring that only valid product rules and prices are accessible to the users worldwide.

Convincing results

With the implementation of the web based configurator a number of convincing results have been obtained. Sales reps, sales support and channel partners throughout the world share the same detailed and updated product knowledge enabling easy, correct and fast quoting that automatically can be converted to orders. The configurator ensures that there is 100% accuracy and consistency between quoted and delivered products. Order time has been reduced by two days, a significant improvement. Return-Of-Investment is less than two years by savings on man hours alone in administration and dissemination of product knowledge.
