The company

The ABB Group provides equipment to help its customers use electrical power effectively. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs more than 110,000 people.The group needed to increase its sales productivity and responsiveness to customers and therefore decided to find a solution that would simplify its sales processes.

The solution

The team at ABB had a very clear evaluation criteria in their global search for a solution and approached numerous companies. From the short list, ABB selected 3Dfacto because it came closest to meeting the company’s expectations in terms of features and because we were willing to develop additional customized features specifically for ABB. After successfully implementing the 3Dfacto VirtuBUILD solution for a range of its complex products, the company now has a tool to help the sales team configure customer solutions—based on their requirements.

Real-time 3D visualization at the point of sales

One of the key selling points when ABB selected VirtuBUILD was the real-time 3D visualization of the product at the point of sales. “We particularly like the 3D visual configuration. This was the most important criteria for us. Our products are very complex so we really need this feature: Our salespeople need to see what they are configuring. We particularly like the ability to create drawings and documents for offers automatically,” says Martin Bollinger, Project Manager at ABB.
